Changing default theme via script

I want to be able to enable the tastyigniter-orange theme as the default replacing ‘demo’ via a script. The Orange is theme is already downloaded as part of the installation process. How can I accomplish this?
I tried changing the ‘defaultTheme’ value on config/system.php file and also tried changing the value of defaultThemes.main in the database, nothing did the trick for me.

You should see the orange theme listed when you browse admin->design->themes. You need to click on the star to activate it
