Would it be possible to extend the functionality of the extension to separate purchased by kitchen station (ie grill, fryer, etc). I’d like to set up a display by each station so they only see parts of each meal that they need to prepare to keep things flowing efficiently.
matando That is going to be a lot of work.
Each menu item will need to specify which station it belongs to then the kitchen display will need to know which station it is and what parts it needs to display
Additionally, each item on a menu item has to have its own station field such that items can be separated into station queries that feed the station’s display. That will be a core TI update and is best placed on the list of v4 requirements and features.
In the meantime a simple approach for now is to add display devices at each station so they see the whole order. The station cook should be able to pick out the items they are required to cook in order to expedite an order. Doing that until the additions can be made would only be a stopgap.
Yea it would be possible to do but there is a lot of work involved so it would be nice if someone sponsored the development of this feature
None of this requires core updates - if can all be done through the extension.
Rather than a menu item having a station I would suggest doing it by category as that will cover a lot of use cases.
either way, head over to GitHub and create a new issue on the kitchen display repo so that the idea can be discussed
Yes, if done by category, you are correct. I did not think of that as I was typing. Great idea!ryanmitchell
Where is the github repo for the extension? It didn’t say it on the marketplace extension page so I though it just wasn’t an open source extension(well….. technically it always is but I’m referring to release license heh).
wakey18 thank you 🙂
also, @ryanmitchell how would I go about sponsoring it. Currently I’m working in retail saving as much money as I can to hire a immigration lawyer at the start of the new year to move overseas and start my restaurant. Money is tight so I can’t do much atm, but I would def. like to throw some your way for the hard work 🙂
Hi there, I really like the kitchen app, and just wondering a few things
1) Is there a way to show which restaurant the order came from? We utilize one tablet for two restaurants that are side by side.
2) Is there a way to clear an order off the kitchen order screen once it’s been completed? Or do thy only disappear after it reaches the total limit of orders
Not at the moment no. I may push an update in future that uses the build in location selection rather than the ability to choose a setting. Its the ‘right’ thing to do in TI
Yes, you need to have an initial status set to something like received, and then whenever the button 3 status is set it will drop off.
ryanmitchell 1. That’s great! It would be great if they were colour coded or used the logo to differentiate. I love how you have allowed the buttons to be different colours. It really is fantastic. 2. Hmm interesting. I have the initial state set to received. I have three buttons Cancelled, Preparation, and Completed. After I hit the completed button, the items still switch to completed but remain in the kitchen app. Probably user error so i will try a few more times.
It definitely works on that beta - I’m using it myself. If you can share your view settings then maybe I can notice something.
Basically the actual codes just keeps in the display the button 1 and 2 statuses. So be sure to do not have completed or cancelled among them. You can amend the code in summary.php next to the comment “//what we query from DB”. I will work on pulling the statuses to query directly from the system settings rather than buttons. @parrishoffer
Just a quick workaround. Put in order statuses array the id of the statuses you wanna have on KD. When you edit a status the id is the number at the end of the url
I have a question about permissions. How do I give a Staff account access to the KD views without giving them superuser access? I’ve tried giving them Manager role with Global Access, but unless I give them superuser access, all they see when attempting to load a KD view is “Access Denied”.
You need to give the role access to the thoughtco.kitchendisplay.* permission
Hi I can’t see any order in the kitchen display, Why?
cenzi1996 Is this a fresh install of the extension? If so, ensure you configure the “Orders with selected status” with the order status you would like to display.
hi, thanks for the reply, I was writing now that I solved it by reading other people who have had problems, I had not put the product for sale in any category
cenzi1996 Great! Happy you got it solved.
