Postcode Error

Registered users attempting to add an address in the UK are meeting the following error when they input the postcode:

“The Postcode may not be greater than 11] characters.”

This happens regardless of the input. SE27 1AD, SE19 1AJ are two examples. Any idea as to why and how to correct?

Can confirm this bug. Using TastyIgniter V 3.1.1. Tried multiple postcodes in Scotland and all get the same error: “The Postcode may not be greater than 11] characters.” Nothing in system logs.

Thank you for letting me know. I have disabled the following recently added extensions authored by Ryan Mitchel (Order Notifier, Order Approver, SEO Manager, Loyalty Points) and all is working as it should be. The coding in these extensions will need to be looked at.

Apologies, you are correct. The same error continues to present. You can add an address as Administrator but the user will continue to encounter the following error: “The Postcode may not be greater than 11] characters.”

This should be flagged as urgent as it affects both types of installation.

Here is the SQL:

After some testing, I have discovered that when entering Postcode for UK addresses, the system accepts only those with 9 or 10 characters, anything else results in the following error “The Postcode may not be greater than 11] characters.” Importantly, UK postcodes are alphanumeric and have only 6 charcaters 🙂

I await comment from the big guns on this. I believe there is syntax error on the SQL and a function error sitting behind it.

As the error is only recent (3.1), it will be related to the new capability for removing irrelevant country codes, etc.

When reverting to PHP 7.4 from PHP 8, issue disappears. It is clearly a function error generated by non-compatibility with PHP 8

If you have a reproduceable error please raise an issue on GitHub. Forums are not the place to report bugs.

Of course, when an identified error clearly is a ‘bug’, I will flag it as a bug on GitHub.
