How to add space between currency symbol and its value

Please help me about how I have to add space between currency symbol and its value.
For example:
$ 40
At my end it is shown as $40. I want to add space between currency symbol and its value. But How?

Hi @ryanmitchell thats not working. I ve added a space in the database, but in frontend there is still no space.
do you have any other idea.
