Two different languages in menu

Hello,

I’m just thinking how to do better with 2 languages in website. I know I can setup easily other language but how it works with Menu in this case? Do I need to create separate Restaurant/Location? Or there is way to translate menu items?

We have a translate extension in development but development has stalled for a while now. You can sponsor its development if it is something you’re interested in.

sampoyigi I think this person means that even if we have more than 1 language on our sites, we don’t have any option for entering the menu items (CONTENT) in more than 1 language.

For example, if I have 2 languages, and I enter the category name “Desserts”, I have to “choose” which language I’m going to use because there’s no way to enter that category in English and for example, Spanish. Also, I don’t see any option for the visitors to choose which language they prefer. Right now I have 2 languages and I set the default to “Spanish” and “Detect browser language” set to “disabled”. I installed the language and inserted into the languages section in admin. The issue is that unless I disable the English language, the frontend will always show everything in English; and there’s no way to “choose” to switch to Spanish.

ideasgirl Yep, that’s what the translate extension does, lets you translate your menu items into different languages (basically database records that can’t be translated using lang files)

sampoyigi But WHERE? do we enter that? Because we can only enter 1 language at a time for all the content.

I don’t think you are understanding what I mean. I have the language translation installed and it’s working. Beside the issue I mentioned about the “automatic” switch that doesn’t work.

Where in the ADMIN, you can enter a description for a menu in English AND Spanish (in my case)? You can only enter a description in 1 language, you can’t enter anything in 2 languages.

For example categories…. When I go to create categories, I can only enter them in 1 language. Usually you have fields and/or tabs to enter the data in English AND the alternate language.
