Is the correct way to prevent the word Free appearing when a menu item has no price to change main::lang.text_free? I have a few items where the cost is based on the number of items selected. In this case a chutney tray. The cost of this is .80 per item and I’ve set up options for the customer to select the ones they want. If they take all five the cost is less at 3.45 but there’s no option for this although that’s not what I need to know right now. I can’t set a price against the menu item because the options add their own values to that value. The solution is to set it, as I have, to zero but then the menu item is listed as Free and that’s not right. Also, I don’t want to remove Free because that’s also a valid and valuable thing. Ideally, I’d like to have the option to not show the menu item price selectable, perhaps in the option screen

Unfortunately, this doesn’t turn out to be a suitable work around for my issue. If I change that text value it has repercussions elsewhere. For example, with delivery costs. I have a charge for delivery under £15 and it’s free over that value. Therefore my delivery charge, instead of saying £4.00 below £15.00, Free above £15.00
says £4.00 below £15.00, above £15.00. Not good.

An option to turn off the display of the price in the menu in favour of either blank or another value such as see option or click for prices would be preferable but would this even be considered for future updates?

If thats what you want you should look to modify the theme partials - you have complete control over the output

ryanmitchell I see. May I ask without fear of repercussion if you believe all of your customers are coders? Lucky for me I do have some ability but what I don’t want is a version which is out of sync with the mainstream version.

Changes to the theme partials can be made through the admin panel - see the themes area. These will stay in sync across updates.

Select the partial you require (im not sure which it is in your case sorry)

I do need to say that, taking everything you’ve said to me about paid support and paid software and so on. the level of technical knowledge expected of users does strike me as being very high. I can’t see a partial containing code related to this. I’ve ignored the one’s such as account, header and such.
The one place I can see where I could change this is in extensions/igniter/local/components/menu/item.blade.php where I could replace lang('main::lang.text_free') with something like “Options”. I’d prefer to create a language option (like lang(‘main::lang.text_free’)) but I don’t see how to create these, only ammend existing ones.

Is this entirely the wrong place to achieve this?

No thats the right place… copy that file into your theme folder under _partials/localMenu/item.blade.php, then make your changes.

Yeah, although I can see the file in the partial section of the theme. It shows up as [Item]. Do you still need the screenshot? I don’t even know how to add one because when I click add image I just get
