Printer Extension

Hey!

Regarding the printer extension, what is the easiest and most reliable method to set that up?

I see many options and generally, IP would be my selection. But I am unsure about the proxy application. Where does that get installed exactly? I envisage having a 10″ Android Tablet running the order approver, with a thermal printer next to it on site.

Ideally I want to keep the on-site setup nice and simple with just these two pieces of hardware.

Does anyone have any advice/recommendations regarding this and any recommendations on printer models?

I’ll see if I can get a chance to trawl through that 200-odd post thread later. I did read some of it but it’s just one long thread with people talking about different things.

martin352 Depending on your needs i’ve been working on a printing application for TastyIgniter orders as well. It can run in the background and checks for new orders to print in the database. It can run as a service on a Windows or Linux host, which needs to be able to connect via IP or USB to an ESC/POS printer. I also added in some other features for my own usecases like a custom loyalty program on the POS ticket.

I am just at the stage of scoping out the various options, to discover what would be the most versatile solution.
But interested to take a look at it if possible.

Farseer has kindly sent me something to try, which I have not yet fully implemented on my setup, but looks good.
I am happy to look at anything which works.

It seems the way to go is to use the TI API to pull down the orders locally so they can be printed via a third party app, thus avoiding complex printer routing or limitations on the number of admin tabs that can be open.
I am advised such an app cannot make it to the TI marketplace, as it does not ‘directly’ integrate to TI.
