Adding a new language First create a copy of the english folder inside main/language/ and rename it to your new language (in lowercase) eg. french or german Go to Languages under Localisation in the Administrator Panel Click New to add language Fill in the form (make sure idiom matches your new language folder name) Switch Clone Language to Yes and select English as Language to Clone Switch Can Delete to No if you do not want your new language to be deleted mistakenly. Lastly, Switch Status to Enabled and Save. Setting the default langauge Go to Settings under System in the Administrator Panel Select your new language as your Default Language under the General Tab Save and you can start translating from the Languages context. NOTE: It is always best to create a copy of the default language so you do not loose changes when TastyIgniter updates.

Its works. The main language is selected based on the user broswer language, when this is not set, the default language is selected. The status should be Enabled, i've updated the post.

After further investigation, i noticed few issues with the multi-language implementation. I will fix this ASAP and update this thread with solution.

Doesn't work. I followed the procedure but it always default to English even when disabled. I am VERY familiar with the plain version of CI but I am not sure where to look at to change the way the language is selected (in main)

I have installed a new language pack (french) But I have a problem with some expressions

For example : I want change in "cart_module_lang.php" the expression "text_no_cart_items"

Impossible I have set up in the admin : Settings /Restaurant/Language/Defaut Language to french and I can see only the english version, not the french.

I don t understand why; did I miss something ?

Geotargeting is terrible for SEO as all use English. Our site needs a language switcher, but more importantly your URL slugs can't be a global configuration. Slugs need to be locale/language specific, i.e. site.com/en/page and site.com/zh/page. If TI won't do this then search engines will detect many 404 pages when switching languages. If you need a better example, examine how Magento or Craft handle multilingual sites. This is the way it should be done.

you can directly go to the category option in admin panel ,kitchen>categories and edit the name

i am having the same problem, when i try to edit the file it says ,An error occurred, language file was not updated

Any updates here? I am still having an issue displaying translations for the front site. It’s always in English. I have enabled the translation and selected it as the default language. No luck!

muhammadsr Have you created all the folders on each extension? The sub language folder name has to be the same as the language code in Admin.
